Privacy policy
Grabwise is built so your information stays with you. There's no account, no advertising and no tracking, and we never sell data.
Last updated: 16 October 2026
The short version
- Your kit, plans, documents, contacts and notes are stored on your device, not on our servers.
- Photos of your documents never leave your device and are never read by AI.
- If you choose to photograph a food label or a list, that photo is sent to be read and then discarded – we don't keep it.
- No account, no ads, no tracking, no selling or sharing your data for marketing.
Who we are
Grabwise is made by Pedro Souto Ribeiro, an independent developer in the United Kingdom. For anything about your privacy, email support@grabwise.co.uk.
Information that stays on your device
Everything you add to Grabwise – your inventory, household details, plans, the survival log, contacts, the family plan, notes, and documents with their photos – is stored in the app on your iPhone or iPad. We can't see it. Documents are locked with Face ID or your passcode. Your country and city are only used on your device, to choose emergency numbers and to work out sunrise and sunset; Grabwise never asks for your location.
Reminders are scheduled on your device. If you choose to add them to your calendar, they're written to a Grabwise calendar in your own Calendar app.
Photo reading (optional)
When you choose Scan a label or Photograph a list, the photo is sent over an encrypted connection to Grabwise's reading service (run on Cloudflare), which passes it to Anthropic's Claude to read the text – for example a product's name, size, calories and best-before date. The answer is sent back to your device.
- We don't store the photo or the result on our servers, and they aren't linked to you.
- Anthropic processes it under its commercial terms, which don't allow it to train its models on this data, and keeps it only for a limited time as described in Anthropic's privacy policy.
- To count how many photos have been read (there's a daily limit, and an allowance during the free trial), the app sends a random code created on your device. It isn't linked to your name, email or Apple ID.
- Photo reading is only for product labels and lists. Photos of passports, ID cards, licences or other documents are refused and never read.
When you contact us
If you email us – including through Report a problem or Suggest an idea in the app – we receive your email address and message. The app adds the app and iOS version, how many items you have (never their names), and a random support ID so we can match your messages. We use this only to help you, and keep it only as long as needed. You'll get an automatic reply with a reference number. Support email is handled through Cloudflare (to receive it) and Resend (to send replies).
The mailing list
If you join the list on our website, we keep your email address, whether you're waiting for Android or for your country, and the country you chose – to tell you when Grabwise is available for you and about major updates. It's stored with Cloudflare, and with Resend, which sends the emails. Every email has an unsubscribe link, or email us any time to be removed.
Purchases
Subscriptions and purchases are handled by Apple. We never see your payment details; Apple only tells the app whether you have an active plan.
Your choices and rights
You can delete everything Grabwise holds on your device at any time in Settings › Data › Delete everything, or by deleting the app. Under UK and EU data protection law you can ask us to access, correct or delete the information we hold about you (support emails and the mailing list) by emailing support@grabwise.co.uk. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) or your local data protection authority.
Children
Grabwise is made for households and isn't directed at children.
Changes
If we change how Grabwise handles information, we'll update this page and the date above, and tell you in the app for significant changes.
